The village of Rozvadov is very close to the German border. But during Soviet times, the Bavarian town of Waidhaus—just a few meters west along the highway—was a world away.
Today, the former custom house on the Czech-German border houses the Iron Curtain Museum. The exhibition is divided into several sections: the First World War, the Second World War and the Communist era.
The museum displays a variety of uniforms, weapons and equipment, as well as a large number of photographs and documents dating from the hard times on the border.
The museum is designed to appeal to visitors of all ages; most of the items on display can be touched and tried out with the help of a guide.
